Defining My True Identity
Identity is the most important focus that guides us daily by influencing our beliefs, values, behaviours and the languages we use. It dictates how we live our lives and what goals we set and what results we achieve.
What is True Identity?
It’s the identity you operate in that makes you feel at ease, fulfilled, strong and when time just drifts. There are no limitations, just flow of energy and productivity.
As we grow and expand, our true identity can emerge or change from what we once perceived to be true. This expansion and shift can cause incongruency and feelings of unsettlement as we shift from our old identity and flow into our new/true identity. This true identity is the one that lifts us, feels freeing and light, and gives us a sense of true purpose. Our zone of genius, our true flow, our true calling.
We, at this point, can choose to fight this battle. Until we identify our true identity, there may be times of battle or unsettlement as our souls are readjusting and finding their flow identity that aligns with their purpose.
Creating a Tool to Identify your Identity
So, the next model was introduced to me by my beautiful couch Patty Moorhouse, for which I am grateful, and instantly fell in love with this process and felt compelled to write this blog. Here are the steps to the process:
- Name your new identity with a name that excites you when you say it, that lights you up.
Names like the rain maker, a force for good, love and light maker, guardian angel, soul sister
- Identify the dominant emotion in this state.
Feeling passionate, excited, loving, empathetic, strong
- Describe how you present physiologically when you are in this state of the true identity.
What do you breathe like, slow shallow or fast and forceful? How do you take care of yourself in this state? What are your daily activities and routine to maintain this identity? How you sleep, eat, move? Do into detail
- What language do you use in this true identity?
Write the question you ask yourself in this state. Write words you use to command this state. What incantations help you get into this state? These are usually – ‘I am…..’ statements. E.g. I am a force for good. Or ‘I am a soul sister.’
- What is the code of conduct you live by with this true identity?
List 10-12 qualities that you live by as your true identity. There may be more than this, but these are your top 10. Then, say them as I am statements. E.g. I am strong. I am empathetic. I am kind. I am spiritual. Write them down and display them somewhere you see every day. Each day, say these statements with emotion and passion until they become the norm and you can say them daily without thinking. It just happens by habit and routine.
- Identify what you believe and focus on in this state.
What are the most important beliefs you have about the world, people and yourself in this identity? E.g. the world has to be a better place when we focus on gratitude or the universe will provide exactly what is needed at exactly the right time for me to focus on this true identity and ensure I remain in state.
- Identify past references or stories that support these beliefs: Values and identity.
Write down stories of coincidences or reminders of how the universe provided you with a platform to support this identity. I.e. guided you to people to help or gave you the circumstances/opportunity to serve in this true identity. This will provide you with a collection of evidence/proof that you are shifting and expanding into your true identity.
- Identify role models that follow the exact state and principles that are the epitome of your true identity.
Once you have identified them ask the question- What would your role model say?
- Identify a movement or gesture that embodies the state, feelings, and language of this true identity. This is called your power move.
Practice this movement when you are in the emotional state that is high vibration/energy and the state you want to be in when in this true identity. And repeat it in this state over and over again daily for a few minutes. You may do this when doing another daily task like showering. It does not need to take up extra time. As long as you make the move in a high energy state and it is repeated over and over. The aim of this is to embed it into your nervous system so that you can, when you need this state, just make your power move and it will produce the state you need. This is called ‘stacking the anchor.’
- Make a document with all this information and then put it in a place where you can say it out loud and practice it daily.
This is the most important part. Daily practice will embed this new identity into your nervous system and you will emit energy and vibration into the universe. Additionally, it will attract people and circumstances to you that will support and nurture this new state.
Enjoy and have fun!
